RestArt
Kaunas
2020
The artistic installation "RestArt" was featured at the Baterija'2020 festival in the first fortress of Kaunas. This installation, consisting of over 1.2km of fabric and 1.4km of rope, as well as 250 meters of pipes, was a collaborative effort that resulted in an impressive white circle with a diameter of almost 90 meters. This artwork invited people to visit and feel more positive energy during these challenging times.
The archi-sculptural ring installation metaphorically reflects the circle of Kaunas as a fortress. However, it presents a different aspect, contrasting with the traditional notions of strength and solidity associated with fortresses. Instead, it represents a form and content that is opposite to warfare—it is about creativity, serving as a changing field for perception and self-expression.
Amidst the worries of military reminders and the threats of viruses, "RestArt" symbolizes a quiet call for renewal, inviting us to remember our primordial, unconventional human nature and experience the purity of white, the color of light, as a clean possibility and a triumph of the spirit!
The organizer of the festival is the Kaunas Fortress Park, with partial funding from the Lithuanian Culture Council.
